AdvancedMD Rolls Out Two-Way Patient Messaging Platform, Expanded Telehealth Capabilities & Improved eRx Workflows

As part of its Fall 2024 Product Release, AdvancedMD is rolling out more than 30 updates across its practice management, EHR and patient engagement solutions

South Jordan, Utah, October 8, 2024 – AdvancedMD, a provider of cloud-based healthcare software for independent medical practices, today announced its Fall 2024 Product Release, with more than 30 updates spanning across its practice management, EHR, and patient engagement platform. Chief among its latest updates is an all new, two-way patient messaging platform that allows private practices to track every patient call, SMS message, and website lead. This newly-added feature gives practices more control over their outbound communications, while also enabling medical groups to easily convert leads into patients.

“Our latest product release is a major accomplishment for our product engineering team. We have added all new prescription capabilities and eRx workflows, multiple updates to our EHR solution that will increase productivity levels across the practice, and API features that will be extremely helpful for our integration partners,” said Tim Costantino, VP and Head of Product, AdvancedMD.

“I’m most excited about the new patient messaging platform we’re rolling out. Not only will it help practices manage their outbound communications, it offers physicians a highly effective tool that helps convert online leads into patients without requiring any additional data entry work. It’s not just a patient engagement solution—it’s a lead gen tool for healthcare providers who have little time to invest in following up with leads they receive via their website, phone calls, or texts to their office.”

The newly launched patient messaging platform includes a dashboard, offering lead analytics on incoming communications, including phone calls, text conversations, and voicemails. It also gives practices the ability to implement automatic text communications via the main office phone number, as well as receive insurance card information, medical histories, and images via text. The customizable chatbot feature can be configured to address common patient questions for things like scheduling appointments, billing issues, intake forms, or prescription inquiries.

As part of the company’s expanding interoperability initiatives, AdvancedMD now provides a developer portal for its integration partners, allowing app developers to seamlessly access information, documentation, and support for AdvancedMD APIs and interoperability services—all in one convenient location.

Patient Engagement Enhancements

In addition to the patient messaging platform, the AdvancedMD patient engagement software solution now has the option to restrict patients from deleting credit cards on file (CCOF). Other updates to the patient engagement platform include:

  • Telehealth pre-call chat capabilities and telehealth guest invites that allow healthcare providers to send telehealth appointment invites to multiple people in a single workflow.
  • Telehealth authorization capture for CCOF that automatically authorizes patient payments when the CCOF feature has been enabled.

Practice Management Enhancements

AdvancedMD practice management solutions also received a refresh, with multiple updates to help drive productivity across the practice. Enhancements to the AdvancedMD practice management platform include:

  • AdvancedMD Pay Customer Receipts that allow private practices to personalize credit card receipts sent via email within the AdvancedMD Pay function.
  • The ability to reset your AdvancedMD password by email: Simply click the “Forgot Password” link and enter basic credentials to reset your password via email.
  • A same-day rollup for Claims that consolidates charges into a single visit for patients who have been seen multiple times on the same day, a key benefit for healthcare providers treating patients with mental health conditions.
  • An updated Prescription by Provider report that allows healthcare providers to easily filter and track prescriptions and fill status; audit prescriptions by provider, patient, date, type, and pharmacy; view pharmacy name, address, and phone number; and, easily see the prescription, basic chart info and transaction IDs.

EHR Enhancements

AdvancedMD has made several updates to its EHR platform, from newly refined charting capabilities to various eRx and prescription workflow updates. The most significant enhancements include:

  • An EHR Note update that enables healthcare providers and their admin staff to automatically populate the visit date and time in a linked note, saving time and helping to keep documentation clear, while also reducing billing errors that result from the date of documentation not matching the date of service.
  • New EHR Chart Print capabilities centered on print narrative documents, making it easy to print aesthetically pleasing clinical summaries that can be shared with patients and external providers.
  • Updated eRx workflows for medications marked as discontinued, historical, or canceled help streamline daily eRx processes by eliminating redundant flows.
  • Group, recurring, and workflow improvements to prescribing features that allow practices to create a template for multiple prescriptions, allowing healthcare providers to prescribe multiple medications simultaneously.
  • Newly added regulatory capabilities for decision support interventions (ONC HTI-1) that make it possible to set up HW rules with new options, including allergy reaction, UDI, medication dose, and medication unit of measure.
  • All new Social Determinants of Health (SDOH) and Patient Activity Scale (PAS)-II templates, along with 21 Bright Futures pediatric templates. AdvancedMD now includes SDOH and PAS-II templates in its clinical template library along with patient forms as part of its regular EHR subscription.

The 2024 Fall Product Release enhancements will be rolled out on a tiered schedule on October 8, 17, and 24. The complete list of product release updates can be found on the AdvancedMD blog at 2024 Fall Release. There is also a training webinar that shows practices how to take full advantage of the latest product updates: AdvancedMD 2024 Fall Release Training Webinar.
