AdvancedMD 2024 Winter Release Gives Private Practices Elevated Levels Of Operational Agility & More Streamlined Billing Capabilities

The EHR, practice management, and patient engagement solution is rolling out its latest platform updates on a tiered schedule over the next three weeks

South Jordan, Utah, February 14, 2024 – AdvancedMD, a provider of cloud-based healthcare software for independent medical practices, today announced its 2024 Winter release, with more than 30 different updates to its EHR, practice management, and patient engagement tools. The release is focused on improving operational agility for private practices and their healthcare staff while also delivering enhanced billing capabilities to refine revenue cycle management tactics and deliver financial stability.

“Today’s private practices are up against a myriad of challenges. They are dealing with staffing shortages and physician burnout while also trying to meet their revenue goals as reimbursements continue to shrink. Clinical and admin staff alike need solutions that streamline daily operations to give them more hours back in their day, as well as tools that enable them to refine their billing processes,” said Amanda Hansen, President, AdvancedMD. “Our latest release speaks to the very heart of these challenges, giving private practices new ways to automate time-consuming tasks. We’ve added a whole list of ePrescribing updates and redesigned the eRemittance Center. There are new security updates and new performance billing features. It’s one of our most comprehensive platform releases—I know our customers are going to be thrilled about how much time it will save them.”

The AdvancedMD 2024 Winter Release includes more than 30 different updates, but here are the highlights:

Practice Management

  • External windows will automatically close at the end of a session: To improve security, the AdvancedMD platform will now close some external windows when you close the practice management dashboard, log out of the platform, or your session times out.
  • A redesigned eRemittance Center: The review and detail screens in the eRemittance Advice section of the practice management solution has been redesigned for a more streamlined and efficient experience, making it possible to search, review and post multiple payments faster.
  • Mass write-offs: The newly added mass write-off feature allows admin staff to write off multiple charges across multiple accounts, saving a vast amount of time when updating collections account notes.
  • Restrict scheduling of patients with a collections status: The new user-level permission controls who is able to create appointments for patients with outstanding balances—the feature blocks users without the necessary permission from bypassing the collection warning when creating an appointment, while giving authorized users the ability to make the appointment.
  • Automated Credit-Card-On-File Worklists in AdvancedMD Pay: Two new worklists within AdvancedMD Pay—“Credit Card Processing” and “Declined Payments”—make it easier to manage credit-card-on-file payments and processes, significantly simplifying billing workflows, including managing expired cards, declined payments, and contact attempts, as well as scheduling follow-ups.

EHR

  • Sunsetting “Classic Chart” view: AdvancedMD is sunsetting the legacy “Classic Chart” view and the “Back to Classic” toggle is being removed. The “Patient Chart” view which includes the card framework is now the only view option. Any changes to a role within the user preference options will be pushed automatically to assigned users with that user preference for a more streamlined workflow process.
  • ePrescribing Compliance updates: There are eight new updates to ePrescribing compliance capabilities, including a new ePA donut that lets you see all prior authorization requests, the addition of a “Last Office Visit Date” field to the medication form and renewal requests, a new prescription details field and an automatically calculated expiration dates based days and refill values
  • EHR Audit Tracker redesign: The newly redesigned EHR Audit Tracker functionality is more user-friendly, delivering better performance capabilities, improved workflow productivity, and faster report run times.
  • Expanded EHR template library and filters: There is a new template library within the EHR solution, with inline previews for a more intuitive, user-friendly design and additional “specialty” and “type” filters and a keyword search function.

Patient Engagement

  • Patients can now upload medical documents and other files: An option within the “System Settings” allows practices to give patients permission to securely upload various documents, including online scheduling and intake forms. Financial documents can be uploaded to chart files and medical documents can be uploaded to the EHR. This update significantly improves provider-patient interactions, giving patients more control of their healthcare experience.
  • 9-1-1 notices in the patient portal: A 9-1-1 emergency alert now warns patients to not send a message through your patient portal when emergency assistance is needed. The message is served up as an overlay on the patient portal when the patient composes a message, making sure any emergency communication is completed by calling the medical office directly or calling 9-1-1 emergency services.
  • Provider Matching now allows multiple appointments per time slot: You can now manage how—and if—you double book within the Provider Matching by using the “Use Column Constraints” feature in System Settings. Once activated, you can easily see your schedule when double booking for increased productivity.
  • Zoom-based telehealth migration: Customers still on the legacy telemedicine platform can submit a request to be moved to the new and improved Zoom-based telehealth platform with improved audio and video capabilities. The Zoom-based telehealth platform allows practices to schedule group appointments, streamline workflow in the provider list view and receive patient data updates in real-time. (AdvancedMD was recently named the Zoom 2023 ISV Builder Partner Of The Year.)

The AdvancedMD 2024 Winter Release also includes two updates to the Clinical Mobile App: a new Care Team Card for a more collaborative care process and push notifications for important, time-sensitive tasks.
