Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Intermountain Area Receives 600 Necessity Bags from AdvancedMD

Salt Lake City business unites employees, families & customers in an effort to break the record on Welcome Bag donations

SOUTH JORDAN, UT(Marketwired – November 16, 2016)Ronald McDonald House Charities® of the Intermountain Area, Inc. announced that it has received the single largest donation of 600 necessity bags from Salt Lake City-based AdvancedMD, a healthcare technology company for independent physician practices, in support of the Ronald McDonald House’s mission to contribute to the health and well-being of children.

The Ronald McDonald House and Ronald McDonald Family Room provide a temporary home-away-from-home that serves and sustains families of children receiving treatment at area hospitals. Seriously ill and injured children cope better when surrounded by loved ones. Welcome Bags provide families with such necessities as shampoos, toothpaste and other toiletries.

“Families often come to the Ronald McDonald House after spending hours at a hospital, and Welcome Bags take one worry away from them at a very fragile time in their lives,” said Stephanie Stevens, Events and Development Manager, Ronald McDonald House Charities. “We are glad to have found such a dedicated partner in AdvancedMD, and the toiletries we’ve received will help ease the day-to-day burdens for families with children undergoing medical treatment far from home.”

From July-October 2016, AdvancedMD’s employees and their families took part in “Operation Welcome” by collecting toiletries and assembling them into 600 Welcome Bags. The last 300 bags were assembled with the help of employees and doctors, nurses and physician practice administrators from across the country. They arrived at Salt Lake City for AdvancedMD’s EVO16 user conference to learn about the latest in healthcare technology and best methods in practice management.

“At AdvancedMD, we always look for ways to help our employees contribute to worthy causes where the need for support is great,” said Pat Crooks, Vice President, Human Resources, AdvancedMD. “The local chapter of the Ronald McDonald House Charities gave us such an opportunity and we feel privileged to have helped its mission.”

Since 1999, AdvancedMD, www.advancedmd.com, has been dedicated to helping independent physician practices care for their patients. A leading ambulatory healthcare technology company, AdvancedMD employs more than 500 people in its offices in Salt Lake City and South Jordan.
