Celebrating Independent Private Practices Nationwide

advancedmd-blog-independentprivatepractice

The high cost of running a practice, the increased wave of patients along with a tsunami of government regulations have put enormous pressure on the private physician. Helping physicians stay in private practice, meet regulatory standards and provide state-of-the-art healthcare is the primary mission here at AdvancedMD where we serve more than 5,000 private practices nationwide and process more than 34 Million annually. Today, we are paying tribute to the independent physicians who continue to service their communities despite the obstacles.

It takes a special group of people to continue to learn and to succeed despite the odds. Such dedicated professionals abound in different parts of the country such as Dr. Steven Lovato of Oakland, California, Dr. Jed Shay of Rock Springs Wyoming, along with Dr. Steven Wampler in Killen, Alabama who remain independent and continue to serve their communities with state-of-the-art technology and personalized care.

Dr. Steven Lovato, a family practice physician with offices in Oakland and Stockton, CA, serves an underprivileged community and is able to see a large number of patients due to the proficiency of his office manager and AdvancedMD. With the AdvancedMD cloud solution, Dr. Lovato is able to go between two offices, dictate a message and orders for each patient after a visit and has cut down his charting time through the AdvancedMD iPhone App that is a gateway into electronic healthcare records, billing and scheduling.

Dr. Jed Shay of the Pain Care Center in Rock Springs, Wyoming is located in one of the most remote towns in Wyoming and is able to treat a hard-working population that would otherwise need to drive an additional three hours to Salt Lake City to get the same services. Dr. Shay’s practice is not only profitable, but is able to meet the latest government standards and deliver state of the art services to his patients employing telemedicine to treat patients. Also, the cloud-based practice management software in his practice ensures all the proper codes for claims are used in order to get reimbursement as well as secure automatic updates to ICD-10 and more. Dr. Shay is part of a growing movement of early technology adopters using technology to stay independent and to thrive as a private physician.

Dr. Steven Wampler and his Greenhill Family practice is a rural family practice that serves a vital role in the community, caring for a much wider range of needs than a typical family practice tied into a community of referable specialists. Often filling an essential emergency care role – everything from reattaching severed fingers to gunshot wounds or tractor accidents – Dr. Wampler feels highly connected to his patients and their health. As a result, the crush of paperwork became more and more challenging, particularly with the high demand for after-hours and offsite encounters. The clinic overcame a lack of broadband access by installing a T1 line and implemented the AdvancedMD cloud practice management and EHR systems. Following an initial slowdown, the practice realized significant improvements in information access, quality of care, and provider and staff efficiency. The clinic achieved EHR meaningful use attestation in 2011, runs at 110% of its pre-EHR volume.
